Store-bought dinner rolls, brushed with a satiny blend of melted butter and garlic, and then blanketed with stretchy, dreamy mozzarella cheese. After a quick bake in the oven and a sprinkling of fiery red pepper flakes, this cheesy, fabulous side dish is ready to wow the crowd.
This is such an amazing way to jazz up regular dinner rolls! And serving the buttery, cheesy baked rolls in a skillet is truly unique - it changes dinner rolls from blah to whoa!!!
I chose regular dinner rolls this time, but you can also use sweet Hawaiian rolls - I think that would be equally fabulous!
Cheesy Smothered Garlic-Butter Rolls
Feel free to double or triple this recipe as needed.
Cooking spray
6 dinner rolls of choice
2 tablespoons butter
1/2 teaspoon garlic powder or granulated garlic
1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
Preheat the oven to 350 degrees. Coat an ovenproof skillet or shallow baking dish with cooking spray.
Arrange the dinner rolls in the prepared pan. Melt the butter in a small saucepan or in the microwave. Whisk in the garlic. Brush the garlic-butter all over the rolls. Top the rolls with the cheese (it's OK if some of the cheese falls down into the pan).
Cover the pan with foil (to prevent the foil from sticking to the cheese, spray it with cooking spray first). Bake for 10 minutes Uncover and bake for 5 more minutes, until the cheese melts. Sprinkle with crushed red pepper flakes and serve.
Serves 4-6
