Easy Bread Dough Pizza

Super chewy, extra crispy dough, topped with savory sauce, spicy pepperoni, and ultra-stretchy cheese. Five ingredients never looked so good. But bread dough pizza you ask? Yes! The uncooked dough for bread and pizza is pretty similar, but I love how bread dough puffs up just a little more - giving you more chewy dough with each crispy-cheesy bite.

Which bread dough to use? I use frozen bread dough, sold in 1-pound loaves. In fact, I always have 3-4 loaves in my freezer! You can also use refrigerated dough, which is a little smaller (about 13 ounces). Obviously you can use pizza dough too! My market sells fresh dough near the deli; and Trader Joe's and Whole Foods have their versions too.

I kept things simple here and added pepperoni on one pizza and just cheese on the other. But feel free to add your favorite toppings! In the past, I've added all kinds of things, like broccoli, spinach, hot peppers, salami, olives, mushrooms, and zucchini. I'll put practically anything on top. Just not pineapple.

Easy Bread Dough Pizza

1 loaf frozen bread dough, such as Rhodes, thawed according to the package directions
1/2 cup pizza sauce or marinara sauce
1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
1/3 cup sliced pepperoni
1/2 teaspoon dried oregano

Preheat the oven to 400 degrees.
Roll the dough out on a large piece of parchment paper until about 12 x 15 inches in diameter (or thereabouts). Top the dough with the sauce, to within 1/2-inch of edges. Top the sauce with the mozzarella cheese and pepperoni slices. Sprinkle the oregano over top.
Bake for 20 to 25 minutes, until the crust is golden and puffed up.
