Pull-Apart Pretzel Rolls with Buttery Honey Mustard

I love making pull-apart bread - it's so fun to plant the cheesy bread in the center of the table and watch everyone dive in. While shopping today, I saw fresh-baked pretzel rolls and thought, what could I do with those? Pretzels and cheddar have a natural affinity. As do pretzels and mustard. Bingo! Pull-Apart Pretzel Rolls with Mustard! And butter just makes everything better...

Once I sliced the rolls to make a crosshatch pattern on top, I melted a little butter, spiked it with honey mustard and drizzled it over top. It quickly dripped into the slices and worked its way towards the middle. Then, I filled the slices with shredded sharp cheddar cheese. Once baked, everything came together like a dream!

One thing was a little tricky: I bought "sandwich" pretzel rolls, which means they were already sliced crosswise. That's fine if you do the same, just note that some of the little bread squares may fall off as you fill the slices with cheese. Just put those runaways back and you'll be good to go! Once the cheese starts to melt in the oven, everything stays put.

Pull-Apart Pretzel Rolls with Buttery Honey Mustard

4 pretzels rolls
2 tablespoons butter
1 teaspoon honey mustard
1 cup shredded cheddar cheese

Preheat the oven to 350 degrees. Coat a baking sheet with parchment paper or foil (this makes clean-up a breeze).
Using a sharp knife, make several slices in both directions of the rolls, creating a crosshatch pattern. Slice halfway through, not all the way to the bottom of the roll.
Melt the butter in the microwave or small saucepan. Whisk in the mustard. Drizzle the butter mixture over the rolls so it drips into the slices. Sprinkle the cheddar cheese over top and try to get some cheese into the slices (as much as possible without the slices falling off).
Bake for 10 to 15 minutes, until the cheese melts and the rolls are toasted.
Serve warm.
