Smoky Oven-Roasted Chicken Wings

Chicken wings and summer seem to go hand-in-hand. At least for me they do - we always order them after a day of frolicking in the ocean and playing on the beach. You will LOVE this recipe because it's so simple. You need one big bowl, one baking sheet and foil. That's it! And make sure you serve the wings with your favorite dipping sauce: ranch or blue cheese dressing, or barbecue sauce.

Note: For spicy wings, add hot sauce to the mixture before adding the wings. You can add as much as you want - 1 teaspoon or 2 tablespoons!

1/4 cup fresh lime juice (about 2 lemons)
1 teaspoon finely grated lime zest
2 tablespoons olive oil
2 tablespoons melted butter
2 teaspoons ground black pepper
2 teaspoons kosher salt
1 teaspoon liquid smoke
1 teaspoon garlic powder
1 teaspoon onion powder
1 teaspoon paprika
4 pounds chicken wings, halved and wing tips removed

Preheat the oven to 500 degrees.
In a large bowl, combine all ingredients but the wings. Mix well. Add the wings and toss to coat (using your hands is the best way to coat the wings!).
Arrange the wings on a foil-lined baking sheet and roast for 20 minutes. Flip the wings and roast for 10 more minutes, until the wings are browned and cooked through.
